Troy interviews for a job 1,000 miles away this week. I hope & pray that he gets it!!
I'm excited & anxious & just wanna know if he has the job or not so we can move on, either way!

14 Days, Right On Time
Bonnie's due date was 17 July. At the beginning of July, Pete was concerned that the baby would be born "on time" and cause some problems with caretaking of Bonnie's & Aaron's children, Rose being out of town, the Brauer's being out of town, etc...and he had hoped the baby would come early!!
I told him that traditional due dates are about 15 days too early, and that Bonnie could go to the end of the month and still be in a "safe" range, which is why only 5% of babies are born on their due dates. His eyes just about popped out because his wife was going to be out of town at the end of July. So I didn't tell him that Bonnie could go well into August!
The baby was born normally [I was told "naturally"], 14 days after the due date :) Mama & Baby are home & doing very well.

Childfree By Choice
This entry was inspired by Woman Uncensored's entry.
People tend to glamourise the "childfree by choice" lifestyle, and overexaggerate the "scary" aspects of pregnancy, labour, birth, breastfeeding & parenting when they've never experienced the latter!
1 ~ CFBC means more money & more freedom
I know a few CFBC couples. They're no better off than the rest of us. They have 2 incomes, but no extra money for those long, extravagant holidays they should be taking since they don't have the expenses that come with raising a child. Now that I think about it, the CFBC couples I know don't go very far at all when it's time to take a holiday. They stay in the U.S., generally staying within 1,000 miles from home, which isn't very far in America, especially on the West Coast.
2 ~ Not having children will keep me free from stretchmarks, scars & saggy breasts
Are people who choose to be childfree really any better off physically? I've seen the stretchmarks from weight gain & weight loss. I've seen the scars from accidents & surgeries. I've seen & heard the woes of not being able lose weight & the saggy breasts that come with weight loss, AND with getting older. Being a parent doesn't guarantee a "messed up" body, just as not being a parent doesn't guarantee a "perfect" body.
3 ~ Having a child ruins relationships
That's interesting. How many relationships have been ruined by the children? It's the adults who determine if the relationship is a good one & worth working for, not the child. If a child can ruin a relationship than maybe that relationship is destined to be ruined anyway, by any change, any challenge.
The CFBC couples I know have been together many years. So have we "breeders". My husband & I have been together for nearly 20 years. Almost all of my "breeding" friends & relatives are in looong term relationships. My grandparents, on both sides, for 50 years, one set with 4 children, the other with 9.
D'oh! I have a bit more to say but the phone is ringing...I'll be back!

Fungi & Yeast
I'm finally listening to The Fungus Link audiobook. It's very interesting, I'm going to do the anti~fungal diet. I think it'll help with my fatigue, achy bones & itchy chin.
My Mom's been on it for a while & has lost so much weight! She feels better and has gone off or reduced her medications.
I'm starting next week. Will be tough to not have coffee, but I've given it up before, for various lengths of time.
I haven't had coffee today & so far, no headache! I had fresh apple-carrot-tangerine-blackberry-strawberry juice followed by green tea. Carrot juice plays a big role in this eating plan, so I bought a huge bag of organic carrots yesterday.
It's DVD time with the brats...

Groupies
I can't even count how many people have tried to tell me that they know my friends better than I do. People who have never even met them, let alone talked with them & got to know them. It's annoying. I just let them pretend, make fools of themselves, and let them realise on their own that I actually am friends with the person they're lying to me about!
Anyway.
San Francisco next weekend, yay! Friends, music, & excellent coffee in my favorite American city. Really looking forward to it!

That Was Quick!
I haven't blogged here since April?!?!
Neex has been in Austria for nearly 3 weeks already. She's have a wonderful time, lots of people have been praying for her & continue to pray for her. Awesome!
I miss her, but it's easier knowing that she is meant to be there, that she's with a well trusted organisation & that she's studying God everyday.
Everyday...I've always spelled it as one word...is it really 2 words?
Troy turns 40 tomorrow!

The Dress
Troy finished it late last night. He managed to make it reversible. With 2 zippers. It needs a couple of touch~ups, but it is lovely. I'll post pix tomorrow soon.
Vogue patterns go on sale next week, so I'll be picking up some of those, especially the vintage ones! They'll be $4, they're normally $20-$25!

Another Baby Boy
A couple of weeks ago, I dreamed that I adopted a baby boy. He was a "White" baby...fair skin, blue eyes, and blond fuzz on his head. His bio Mom didn't want him because he was a boy & she already had 2 sons.
I was sooo excited!! He was tiny when the adoption process started, just born. By the time we brought him home, he was 4 or 5 months old.
It was a lovely dream, but it made me miss the other Baby Boy that I've dreamed about. The one I give birth to. I wonder when I'll meet him...

Couldn't Resist
Bought lots of new patterns today! While I was checking out the patterns, Troy was picking out fabrics. DOH!! We have far too much fabric & now we have even more! I guess we'd better start crackin'.
I started to look at crochet & knit stuff, but Chloe pulled me away, stating that we were already spending too much money. According to the receipt, we saved $215!! Much more than we spent :)
I think I'm starting to like sewing. I hope this feeling lasts :)

Getting Started
Decided to work on sewing today. Chloe chose the pattern. She chose a Chesire Cat pinky red/purple striped fabric. I have no idea if it will work for this style of dress, but I'm going to try. I'm almost finished cutting the fabric!
I looked for a pic of the pattern online [not in the mood to scan, etc] but a vintage pattern keeps coming up, not the one I'm using. Boo, guess I'll have to scan it later.
My Dia de los Muertos fabric seems to have disappeared!

I Need New Clothes

I've been trying to learn to sew for a while, but never really stick with it. Sometimes it's because of frustration, sometimes it's because something goes wrong with the sewing machine. Sometimes it's just too tedious for me...the cutting, the pinning...
But, seeing how I need clothes for Spring, I NEED to start sewing. There are piles of fabric in every cupboard, just waiting to be used. And I really want that dress in Dia de los Muertos fabric!!!
Troy will probably end up doing most of the sewing. Lucky guy, his mother taught him how to sew!

Austria
We're praying about sending Annika to Austria this Summer! "Sending" doesn't seem like the right word...she WANTS to go & I'm excited for her! I wanted to be an exchange student in high school, but my Mom wouldn't let me. I've always resented her for that for a long time. I didn't have the opportunity to travel to Europe again, until 16 years later!!
Nik will be volunteering & staying at Schloss Heroldeck. We're getting references & sending in the application this week. My only concern is that she'll be traveling alone, but I'm sure she'll be fine. It will be her first time being away from home for that long!
Maybe next year we can all go :)
